Chandrakal is 2.5 hours outside of Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh. There are nearly 50 villages and 125,000 rural peasants whose lives are drawn to Chandrakal where the only full time medical clinic was revived only in 2004. Among the thousands who come by walking, carts, bikes, bus and small Indian taxis, at least 10% of the walk-in patients have been infected with HIV/AIDS.
